Sweepy for Windows · Last updated 4 November 2026

In short: Sweepy works entirely on your PC. Your files and their contents never leave it. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Sweepy only talks to the Microsoft Store, to check what you've bought.

What the app looks at

Sweepy reads information about files, never what's inside them:

Sweepy never touches app shortcuts, locked files, code projects or Windows' own folders.

What the app changes

Only what you approve. After every clean, Sweepy shows you exactly what it found, and you can keep anything. Then it moves what you approved to your Recycle Bin (so "Undo last clean" can bring it back), or sorts it into folders on your PC. While a clean is running, the files it picked up are only hidden; they're always shown again if you stop it or close Sweepy. When you fetch a file from the Recycle Bin, Sweepy puts it back where it was.

What the app keeps on your PC

Everything stays in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sweepy on your PC:

Uninstalling Sweepy and deleting that folder removes all of it.

The internet

Sweepy doesn't send your files, your file names or any personal data anywhere. The only connection it makes is to the Microsoft Store, to check your licence and add-ons (like Sweepy Pro and skins), show their current prices, and let you buy them. Purchases are handled entirely by Microsoft, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement; we never see your payment details.

Links in the app (like Help or this page) open in your browser.

This website

No cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (like IP addresses) for a short time for security. If you use the help form, what you write (and your email, if you give it) is emailed privately to the developer so we can answer you. It isn't stored on the website or shared with anyone.

Children

Sweepy doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
